Position Summary

The Production Floater is a versatile, high-impact role responsible for supporting daily operations across multiple production and machining lines at IMT Precision. Utilizing extensive machining experience, this individual will operate a variety of automated and manual CNC lathes, welders, and presses. Rather than programming or setting up machines, this role focuses on high-level operation, completing basic cutting tool changes, executing preventative maintenance programs, and verifying product quality using precision tools. Candidates must possess strong technical adaptability and the ability to work rotating shifts.

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

Multi-Line Machine Operation

  • Operate a diverse variety of equipment, including CNC lathes, welders, and presses on both automated and manual lines.
  • Load and unload raw parts into machinery with high precision and care.
  • Perform basic cutting tool changes as required to minimize machine downtime.
  • Follow the designated preventative maintenance program on all assigned equipment to keep machinery running efficiently.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment and tooling within the scope of training. 

Quality Assurance & Precision Measurement

  • Perform a variety of strict quality checks to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools effectively, including calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gauges, length gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Ensure all Work-in-Progress (WIP) meets precise process standards and organizational quality metrics.
  • Complete required quality and production documentation accurately.

Flexibility & Agility

  • Seamlessly transition between different automated and manual cells depending on plant operations and production priorities.
  • Support continuous improvement, mentoring new operators when required, and providing team flexibility

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a secure, clean, and organized workspace.
  • Adhere strictly to manufacturing safety guidelines and report any equipment or process risks immediately. 

Accountabilities

  • Operate a variety of CNC machinery, welders, and presses safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure product quality by following strict quality procedures and accurately utilizing calipers, micrometers, and precision gauges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for production runs, tool changes, and quality checks.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks and keep cross-functional workspaces clean and safe.
  • Support continuous improvement, operational flexibility, and agility across multiple production lines.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Requirements and Skills

  • Education: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. 

  • Experience: Extensive experience operating manufacturing machinery, specifically CNC lathes or automated production cells.

  • Tool Competency: Proven experience using calipers, micrometers, and various specialized gauges. (Blueprint reading is not required).

  • Shift Availability: Must be fully flexible to rotate across all three shifts (Days, Afternoons, Nights).

Salary: $26.76/hour per CBA
