Lead Carpenter/ Crew Leader

Wagler Construction Inc. is a growing renovation and carpentry company serving Brantford, Cambridge, Paris, Woodstock, and the surrounding areas. We specialize in high-quality residential renovations, as well as select commercial and industrial projects.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter who takes pride in their work, can lead a crew, and consistently produces high-quality craftsmanship. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the owner while taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of projects on site.

Position Overview

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who is confident managing projects, directing other employees, solving problems on site, and maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

The ideal candidate is someone who can complete virtually every aspect of a residential renovation without needing constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead residential renovation projects from start to finish
• Supervise and direct crew members on site
• Read and interpret drawings and project plans
• Maintain quality control and company standards
• Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
• Communicate project progress and any issues to management
• Train and mentor apprentices and junior employees
• Ensure projects stay productive and on schedule

Required Qualifications

We are looking for someone with well-rounded renovation experience, including the ability to confidently complete most or all of the following:

• Framing
• Drywall installation and repairs
• Taping and mudding repairs
• Interior trim and finish carpentry
• Flooring installation (vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood)
• Ceramic and porcelain tile installation
• Door and window installation
• Cabinet installation
• Decks and exterior carpentry
• General renovation work and problem solving

The successful candidate should also have:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on renovation or carpentry experience
• Experience leading or supervising a crew
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods
• Ability to read construction drawings and layouts
• Excellent attention to detail and workmanship
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Valid G driver's licence with reliable transportation
• Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work
