Job Description

Summary of duties:                                                                                                             As a Camp Counsellor you will work as a team member, providing supervision and leadership for a group of campers’ ages 10-21 with special needs.  You will work with your peers to lead campers in recreational, leisure and skill development activities.  You will assist in the design, development and implementation of interests and themes that encourage positive interactions and friendships among campers.  You are responsible to ensure that all campers’ basic needs are met on a daily basis including safety, health and medication administration, hygiene, nutrition and fun.  Adherence to policies, practices and procedures, and applicable legislation is essential.  Role modeling positive communication and effective listening skills are essential.                               WDDS offers accommodation for applicants with disabilities in its recruitment process.  Please advise us prior to the interview if you require an accommodation. Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Qualifications:                                                                                                                          

A minimum of Grade 12 and enrolled in Post-Secondary school with some experience in the Human Services field or Summer Camps. Counsellors must be between the age of 18 to 30 to qualify for the CSJ grant.  Emergency First Aid and Level B CPR certificate. Creative and Energetic. Knowledge of autism, mental health and developmental disabilities are assets.  Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (which is considered two doses of a two-dose series or one dose of a one dose series). WDDS strongly recommends staying up to date with your vaccinations.
