Job Description

The General Labourer will support the day-to-day property maintenance and field operations at various commercial and industrial properties. This is a hands-on position requiring reliability, physical ability, attention to safety, and flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.

As employees regularly work at client properties and interact with customers, tenants, contractors, and members of the general public, strong and fluent English communication skills are required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general labour, property maintenance, and site cleanup.
  • Complete landscaping duties including grass cutting, trimming, weeding, mulching, and seasonal cleanups.
  • Assist with concrete and asphalt repairs.
  • Assist with the installation and repair of fences, bollards, railings, signage, curbs, and other property components.
  • Perform pressure washing, exterior cleaning, painting, and minor repairs.
  • Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Follow company and client health and safety procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, contractors, and members of the general public.
  • Perform other general maintenance and labour duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate fluently and effectively in English, as the position involves regular interaction with clients and the general public and requires the ability to understand workplace and safety instructions.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to consistently get to and from work and designated reporting locations on time.
  • Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and able to follow instructions.
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding work and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to travel between job sites and work flexible hours when required.
  • Previous landscaping, construction, property maintenance, or general labour experience is an asset.
  • A valid Ontario driver's licence is an asset.
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, and equipment certifications are considered assets.

Work Expectations

The employee must maintain professional conduct while representing Total Maintenance Solution, complete assigned work safely and efficiently, respect company and client property, and properly care for company tools and equipment.

Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, overtime, and seasonal work depending on operational and client requirements.

  • Experience in general labour, landscaping, construction, property maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment is an asset.
  • Must be comfortable performing physically demanding outdoor work and working at commercial properties.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while interacting professionally with clients and the general public.
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR, and equipment certifications are considered assets.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Information

  • Starting Wage: $20.00 per hour
  • Wage increases may be considered based on experience, performance, reliability, skills, and additional certifications.
  • Opportunities for additional hours and overtime may be available depending on operational requirements.
  • Pay is processed in accordance with the company’s regular payroll schedule.
