Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance this roll will provide support to the Maintenance staff and get hands on experience. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in mechanical work and pursuing a career in skilled trades.

 

How you will make contributions that matter:

Work closely with maintenance coordinators to maintain an accurate and up to date inventory of all maintenance spare parts within mezzanine areas and maintenance shop.

Maintains housekeeping within all maintenance areas including; shops, storage, utility rooms, and mezzanine areas.

Organize parts storage to ensure materials are in designated locations.

Carries out preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

Supports daily/evening rounds person to look after utilities functioning like restoking softener tanks with salt, moving chemicals, recording equipment readings and etc.

Looks after outside grounds: making sure that all outside areas are clean of garbage and debris, clear sidewalks and emergency exits from snow and ice.

Repair of parts in shop

Perform basic equipment and building repairs

Works with other trades groups to complete project assignments.

Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager

Works effectively in a processing environment without jeopardizing food safety

Follows company policies and safety standards

 

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong mechanical aptitude and basic construction/maintenance skills

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

High level of self-motivation and initiative.

Willing to learn and good self-starter

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Available to work afternoon and night shifts, weekends and performs overtime as required. Available to switch shifts at short notice to replace absent workers

Experience with process equipment in a manufacturing setting is an asset

Food industry or high speed packaging experience is an asset

Boiler, refrigeration and air handling systems experience is an asset
