We are looking for a Hydraulic Designer - Fluid Power Specialist with a focus on the mining industries.
COOL PROJECTS
- Designed and built hoists for the world’s second heaviest on-shore lifter at 13,000 tons
- High speed winches and control system for a 2,000 foot artificial surfing pool
- Hoists for aqueduct construction which will supply 50% of the drinking water to New York City

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will provide complete custom hydraulic system design, drawings, quotations, and technical assistance for a wide variety of applications to support customers. In addition it is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of Timberland’s technical products and systems. It performs engineering design evaluations and participates in the development of new products. The position overview is to be used as a guideline only and may not incorporate all functions of the job.
DUTIES
- Hydraulic design of custom equipment to support a wide range of customer requirements
- Accurate and timely quotations for designed systems
- Equipment design and detail drawings for custom systems and applications
- Technical support for both internal and external customers
- Provide support in checking details, assemblies and BOMs for assigned projects
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
- Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects
- Recommend design modifications to improve efficiencies in equipment applications
- Maintain thorough documentation for all aspects of assigned projects
- Confer with team to resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to maintenance
- Work with manufacturing to provide cost effective solutions to performance problems
- Travel to customers’ sites to support equipment
Education
Experience Required
ATTRIBUTES WE SEEK
- Post-secondary education with a design focus in fluid power hydraulics or equivalent training
- Previous hydraulic design experience in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment
- Technical knowledge in mechanical systems an asset
- Working knowledge of Inventor an asset
