Job Description

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the new position of Mobile Truck Mechanic will support all Emterra’ s Southwest Ontario sites. As a Service Technician you will be travelling and working at the different sites in Elmira, Brantford, Woodstock, Burlington, and Sarnia from a company repair truck and will be responsible for the lubrication, minor maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs of company Waste and Recycling trucks.
 

The hours of work for this role are Monday-Friday 1:00PM-9:00PM with possible overtime.

Responsibilities:

• Working remotely at different sites to conduct preventive maintenance lubrication, diagnostic checks, inspections, and performing minor repairs on waste and recycling collection trucks;

• Follow standard work order process and procedures, ensuring detailed, accurate and timely records;

• Work with on-site staff and third-party vendors to understand requests and repair’s requirements and provide recommendations to maximize value and lower cost of operation;

• Operate a variety of hand, power, and shop tools; and

• Maintain a high focus upon safety, maintaining a safe work environment and actions including following Emterra’ s policies, regulations, and requirements.

Required Skills:

• 310T mechanics license with garbage/recycling body experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in all aspects of truck repair and maintenance.

• Ability to lift 50lbs;

• Knowledge of Heavy Truck principles and behaviours;

• Read and understand the DVIR process to facilitate minor repairs;

• Ability to work in all weather extremes both inside and outside;

• Strong understanding of industrial Hydraulic, Electrical & Pneumatic systems;

• Problem solving, decision making, and customer service skills are very important;

• Clean drivers abstract, valid G class driver’s license; and

• Self starter with good time management.

Beneficial Qualifications and Experience:

• DZ Commercial license;

• Experience with on road service calls;

• Experience repairing waste and recycling equipment (will train); and

• Experience with welding.
