Job Description
Water/Wastewater Summer Student
Town of Tillsonburg is looking for an outgoing Customer Service Representative that will be responsible for supporting the water/wastewater team in general maintenance activities relating to the Town’s water infrastructure.
This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined pension plan.
Start date: April 21, 2024.
End date: August 30, 2024.
The hourly rate: $16.55.
Weekly hours: 40.
Openings: 2.
Location: Public Works -20 Spruce Street, Tillsonburg

Responsibilities
- Maintains fire hydrants including scraping, priming, painting and number throughout the Town in accordance with the provided work plans and completes maintenance data entry using a Town provided tablet for all completed work.
- Maintains outdoor areas and fire hydrant maintenance at the Bloomer street yard including lawn care/weed eating, weeding, garbage clean-up and other general grounds keeping duties.
- Assists in the auditing and updating of the Safety Data Sheet records for the department.
- Ensures all equipment is kept in working order.
- Reports all accidents/incidents, problemsor concerns to the Supervisor.
- Follows all Town policies and procedures.
- Performs other relatedduties as required.
Education
Experience Required
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a post-secondary University degree or College Diploma program and returning to school in Fall 2024.
- A valid Class G Driver’s license in good standing with no more than six (6) demerit points.
- Motivated, self-directed learner who will take initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to participate as an effectiveteam member and to supportand project values compatible with the Town.
- Ability to work in a team environment and accept and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Hard working, motivated and reliable– with the ability to attend work regularly and punctually.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including working outdoors in varying climates and weather conditions.
- Availability to work for duration of the summer.
