Job Description

NATURE AND SCOPE :

Main duties include the transportation of materials.  Handler of material for receiving, stock, processing, and shipping. Packs, labels, records stock, receives product on the dock, and prepares lots for shipping. Conducts general warehouse duties at the discretion of Warehouse Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The duties and responsibilities of the Shipping/Receiver I are determined by the Warehouse Manager to include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Overall cleanliness and organization of the Shipping/Receiving department including, but not limited to the, stock shelves, aisles, worktable, stockpiles for material to be processed, and segregated material areas.         

1) All materials documented and processed on a daily basis. 

2) Unload inbound trailers to designated staging area. 

3) Load outbound trailers from designated staging area.

4) Work stations maintained in a neat and orderly manner daily. 

5) Shipping/Receiving facility swept weekly/or at the discretion of the Warehouse Manager. 

  • Verification of all material received against a packing slip, RGA number, or purchase order. Tag and segregate all material received until a disposition is placed on it in accordance with documented Receiving Inspection and Inspection & Test procedures. Process the lot in accordance with documented Receiving procedures. 

1) Verify that all counts are correct and in accordance with all customer specifications. 

2) Verify that all cartons are correctly sealed and labeled. 

  • Safely and conscientiously operate all Shipping/Receiving equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, mechanical scales, and all other tools or devices needed to complete the responsibilities and duties assigned to the Warehouse. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that the following is completed where applicable:

1) Maintain all fluids in forklifts, check weekly.

2) Immediately report damage inflicted by/to any vehicle, tool, or action to the Warehouse Manager. 

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in all areas of material control. 
  • The Shipping/Receiving I duties may also include, but are not limited to, the following at the discretion of the Warehouse Manager: 
  1. Accept responsibilities and duties assigned by the Warehouse Manager- may include making deliveries using company truck
  2. Maintain and support all documented Shipping/Receiving policies and procedures. 
  3. Maintain communication with Warehouse Manager to ensure two-way understanding of the status of material on the floor, and in segregated areas. 
  4. Provide constructive feedback on existing Shipping/Receiving procedures in an effort to improve upon them. 
  5. Notify the Warehouse Manager when supplies are needed to complete designated duties and responsibilities with enough notice as to not hinder productivity. 
  6. Moderate to heavy lifting.
  7. Working with materials or in situations where there is contact with dirt, dust, and non-toxic odors.
  8. Work in an environment which may not be environmentally controlled.

 

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Have Shipping/Receiving or warehouse experience preferable.
  • Have an understanding of basic mathematics and be able to verify weights per carton, total weights, and number of pieces. Must know how to use calculator.
  • Be capable of understanding documented policies and procedures when explained. Personnel must be able to recognize tags, forms, colors, and other media to identify inspection statuses or lot identifications in conformance with documented procedures.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work in a team oriented environment.
