Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Working as part of a team, this position is responsible for performing general labour duties in a precast concrete manufacturing facility. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to work in a safe manner and comply with all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and hazard free workspace.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management to complete work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and understand basic mathematics and measurements.
  • Safely operate power tools and equipment related to job/task.
  • Visually inspects all equipment, personal protection equipment for faulty equipment, worn out parts, and immediately reports his findings to Lead Hand or Supervisor.
  • Placement of standard materials related to product, such as:  insulation, erection hooks, etc.
  • Mix, pour, rake, shovel, vibrate and finish concrete.
  • Tie reinforcing, such as: rebar to rebar, rebar to mesh, mesh to mesh, under specific direction.
  • Nailing and fastening wooden forms under specific direction.

Perform other general labour duties as assigned                                                              

HOURS OF WORK: 

  • 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday. Working hours are subject to change based on business needs.
  • Must be available to work weekends as required by the business needs.
  • Must have a willingness to work overtime as required.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a high school diploma is an asset.
  • Previous labour experience in the concrete and/or construction industry is an asset. 
  • Certified crane or forklift training is an asset.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings is an asset.
  • Experience operating specialized concrete fabrication equipment is an asset.
  • Experience operating overhead crane and/or forklift is an asset.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • While performing the duties of this job you are regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, lift, climb, push-pull, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, and stoop.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs frequently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  •         May require working in hot (32C) and cold (-25C) temperatures.
  •         May require walking on terrain that may be uneven, muddy, and slippery.
  •         Exposure to dust, cement powder, water mist or vapor.
