Job Description

Total Swine Genetics, a well-established company located near Tillsonburg, Ontario, is looking for a Lab Assistant to join their team.  The Lab Assistant is part of a team that reports to the Lab Supervisor and is responsible to adhere to strict standards for product processing.  Shifts start between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and an average work day is 8-10 hours.  The part-time lab assistant will work 18-24 hours a week, 2-3 days a week.  Shifts may be longer than a standard eight hours.

There are 3 primary objectives for the lab:

  • Ensure excellence in quality of product
  • Ensure complete accuracy of records
  • Produce the correct quantities of a product as required

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the lab for production
  • Communicate with barn and shipping staff, in a fast-paced environment
  • Operate lab equipment and following correct procedures, policies and health and safety regulations
  • Conduct laboratory tests, analyze results and document findings accurately
  • Document activities, results, and report to management
  • Work at a pace that is compatible with the team
  • Clean the lab post-production

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Requirements, Skills and Education:

  • Great attitude, & willingness to learn
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and equipment
  • Critical thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have grade 10 math skills
  • Some post-secondary education is preferred
  • Our facilities are in the country; therefore, a valid G license and a reliable mode of transportation is required or other reliable transportation
