Job Description

Stonex Granite and Quartz is looking for Maintenance Technician.  This a Junior role and we are willing to fill the position with a recent graduate without work experience.  The successful candidate will, under the direction of the supervisor, be responsible for mechanical maintenance and repair of production equipment within our Woodstock facility. This person will also assist in safely installing machinery and supporting structures according to manufacturer's specifications. This position will normally be weekdays, but the successful applicant must be available evenings and weekends as needed.  Starting wage is $19.00/hr, negotiable.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direction of the supervisor, the successful applicant will;
  • Carry out preventative and predictive maintenance programs and all necessary documentation
  • Repair or rebuild machinery and equipment as directed
  • Communicate and work effectively with production teams as needed to facilitate quality fabrication 
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings as required
  • Dismantle machinery or equipment as required
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, levels and plumb lines
  • Assemble and install equipment as required
  • Overtime as required
  • Participate in department meetings and training as required by Millwright
  • Other duties as required by Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recent graduate from a certified millwright course
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests
  • Ability to work with supervision
  • Capable of operating multiple types of machine shop equipment
  • Physically capable of carrying out all aspects of tasks involved
  • Ability to work overtime, evenings, weekends as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Coordinate eye-hand movements
  • Use hands and fingers fully; reach for; manipulate and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
  • Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding or high structures; and see and hear well (neither naturally or with correction)
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in heat
  • Personal Protective Equipment – safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection
