Job Description

Basic Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor the Truck Shop Helper is responsible for assisting with the regular maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment such as:

  • Fluid and oil changes
  • Greasing and lubrication
  • Tire changes and pressure maintenance
  • Minor electrical, light bulb changes etc.
  • Washing and cleaning of vehicles
  • Housekeeping in the shop
  • Inventory and supply tasks
  • Complete minor paperwork – task lists

Not Applicable

Experience Required

The successful candidate will:

  • Be mechanically inclined and have knowledge of basic wear parts
  • Have familiarity with automatic and standard transmission systems
  • Have familiarity with different fuel types

Work Setting: Mechanic Shop (Truck and Coach)

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding role, manual dexterity, Handling heavy loads, repetitive tasks, standing for extended period of time.

Weight Handling: Up to 45kg (100 lbs).

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
