Job Description
The Part-Time Fitness Instructor position for the Township of Zorra is to promote health and wellness within the community by delivering engaging, safe, and effective fitness programs. The Fitness Instructor will provide leadership in group fitness classes, support individual fitness goals, and foster a welcoming environment for participants of all ages and fitness levels. This role aims to enhance the overall well-being of Zorra residents by encouraging active lifestyles, fostering community engagement, and ensuring high-quality fitness experiences in alignment with the Township’s recreational objectives. Duties include:
• Designs, promotes and implements fitness classes
• Plans, organizes and instructs safe and enjoyable group fitness classes for all ages and abilities.
• Sets-up and takes-down all necessary equipment for the class.
• Reports any incidents/accidents and/or areas of concern to supervisor.
• Monitors and maintains attendance, fitness passes and memberships.
• Interacts with staff, participants and the public to provide program information.
• Follow all established cash handling procedures.
• Ensures safe use, condition and storage of equipment.
• Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions.
Education
Experience Required
- Must be minimum 16 years of age.
- Eligible to work in the province of Ontario.
- Current and relevant Fitness Certification in Group Fitness and/or Personal Training
- Experience in planning and implementing a wide variety of fitness classes for all ages and abilities.
- Technical knowledge of fitness and wellness.
- Good knowledge and understanding of all relevant regulations, policies and procedures.
- Current Standard First Aid Certification
- Degree or diploma in Physical Education/Health, Fitness & Wellness would be an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed prior to start of employment.
