Overview of the Role
Saputo Dairy Products Canada is seeking a dynamic Engineering Senior Project Leader to join our team. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Director of Engineering - Cheese Plants, and be responsible for planning, estimating, and executing capital projects across our Canadian division plants.
We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills and a passion for excellence. This position offers the opportunity to travel across Canada (30-50% of the time), providing a chance to make a significant impact on our operations nationwide.
How you will make contributions that matter:
- Plan, manage and support the various CapEx projects for Canadian plants, process installation projects, packaging, building and utilities.
- Establish preliminary concepts for equipment layout and present them to plants and related departments;
- Actively participate in the development and maintenance of installation standards;
- Coordinate and supervise the execution of projects, including monitoring the various subcontractors and make yourself available during the work (perhaps outside regular working hours);
- Collaborate with the buyer in the engineering department, define equipment specifications and purchase offers, make their selection and group purchases in order to optimize costs;
- Prepare budget estimates in close collaboration with other departments (operations, maintenance);
- Ensure rigorous management of the allocated budget and communicate progress on a regular basis;
- Establish, monitor and respect project schedules, communicate to the project team the progress, problems encountered and solutions proposed.
Education
Experience Required
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent training;
- Member of a professional engineering association in a Canadian province is an asset
- 5-10 years of relevant experience, experience in agri-food is an asset;
- Knowledge of automation and controls is an asset;
- Knowledge of AutoCAD software, the Office suite including MS Project;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a field approach;
- Demonstrates a high degree of autonomy, ability to prioritize and manage emergencies;
- Communicates in English (both orally and in writing)
- Have a car and a valid driver's license;
- Be a team player and have an appetite for big challenges;
- Willingness to travel across Canada (30-50%).
