The Floral Express is a family-owned and operated company. Our primary focus is wholesale fresh-cut flowers procured directly from the farm and delivered to our amazing customers, such as grocery chains, florists, and event specialists.

Floral Express seeks a motivated and results-driven Quality Associate 

The position:
The Quality Associate’s role is to meet and surpass customer expectations by delivering top-quality flowers punctually. If you like being active and on the move, this position suits you. Our team values speed and efficiency, following a “work smarter, not harder” approach. Working hours are generally during the day, but you may need to work some evenings and Saturdays as required. Due to our fresh-cut flower business, completion of tasks can extend beyond normal hours. This isn’t a typical 9-5 job; commitment to finishing daily tasks is essential.

What you will do:

  • Product Quality:
    • Confirm quality of the product while receiving local and import
    • Confirm that all product is on location
    • Ensure product is stored properly (tropicals in warm room, bulb stock in cooler, plants in GH)
    • Walk the cooler looking for quality issues, remove bad product from stock
    • Walk through truck order carts looking for quality/quantity concerns
    • deal with products that were sent incorrectly (wrong product, wrong quantity, poor quality)
  • Inventory Management:
    • Supervise inventory day to day
    • Keep lily inventory up to date
    • Spot check inventory in cooler daily (before shift)
    • Move plants to GH when required, ensure plants are watered and in proper location
  • Administration
    • Review credit report for reoccurring credit issues
    • Update and maintain accurate stock photos
    • Delete old pick orders
    • Check the navigator for any receiving issues
    • Check “not in” items to be prepared for what is coming in later
    • Review new products and educate the rest of the OPS team about new products, stem count, etc.
    • Check weather reports to determine if any extreme heat/cold days require extra packing
  • Provide support to other operations (picking, packing etc.)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

What you bring to the position:
Required Qualifications and Experience

  • College diploma or equivalent
  • 1 + years of experience in a similar industry or setting
  • 1 + years of experience in a quality role

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and a passion to get things done.
  • Adaptable, personable team player representing the core values of The Floral Express
  • Good judgement skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to be given tasks and execute them without supervision
  • Strong foresight and ability to handle unexpected situations
  • A passion for plants, how they grow and their storage
  • Strong knowledge of flowers, plants and the floral industry
  • An eye for determining the quality/condition of flowers
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to handle stress, as this role can at times, be highly stressful
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to work in various climates, including a warehouse environment which consists of cooler temperatures ranging from 2-16 degrees
