Job Description

The Material Handler/ Lift Truck Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a lift truck (forklift) to move, load, unload and stack materials in the warehouses and production facility.

 

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive and operate various types of lift trucks (e.g. counterbalances, reach truck, pallet jack, etc.) to transport goods, raw material, or products.
  • Load and unload trucks, containers or storage areas and ensure that goods are properly placed and stored.
  • Assist with inventory control by moving goods to designated storage areas, scanning barcodes and tracking material movement.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, protocols and regulations, including wearing PPE, inspecting equipment and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Conduct routine checks on forklifts and other equipment to ensure they are in working condition and report any maintenance issues.
  • Stack products or materials neatly and securely to maximize storage space and prevent damage.
  • Work closely with warehouse, shipping, supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient material handling processes.
  • Maintain logs of equipment usage, material movements and any issues that arise during operations.
  • All other work as assigned by Supervisor/ or other authorized management personnel.

Experience Required

  • 3 years experience within a manufacturing setting.
  • Detail oriented, safety conscious.
  • Capable of handling physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, sitting, standing and walking.
  • Good computer skills: Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficient at operating lift trucks.
  • Able to follow instructions and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
