Job Overview:

We are looking to hire a set up operator to join our team.  This position focuses on the setting up of Machines such as compacting presses, and secondary machinery: drilling, tapping, turning, and milling. The successful candidate must possess a strong mechanical aptitude.  We provide training to use our compacting presses and other secondary operations. The ideal candidate must have a keen interest and be willing and able to learn the unique powder metal process. 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Some operation of machines to produce parts to close tolerance; learn set-up of machines starting with simple machinery, single level small presses and progressing to multi-level presses; the first while learning to operate a press and getting to know our machines
  • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot shop machinery for optimum output
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting, repair and adjustments
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and understand/follow safety procedures and company policies
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Experience Required

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience using machinery; preference given to those with shop experience, or manufacturing environment, set up experience or equivalent mechanical experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and following instructions given both written and verbally
  • Proficient in the use of SPC charting and tolerancing standards; maintaining documentation
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment, such as calipers and micrometers
  • Knowledge of precision practices is required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is required
  • Knowledge of lockouts, shop safety and other mandatory safety requirements-whmis, etc.
  • Moderate lifting is required, ability to stand for long periods
  • Excellent focus and attention to detail, a great attitude and a passion for hard work
  • Great work ethic, punctuality and reliable attendance record
  • Ability to work on own and in a team setting

What We Offer:  Small-family Business Environment

  • 40 hours per week: during first 4 to 6 weeks would be on day shift for training purposes.  Then after that rotation of shifts with 2 to 3 weeks alternating afternoon shift & 2 to 3 weeks of days  rotation; occasional midnights every 3 months - - this all depends on production needs
  • Schedules posted in advance in the lunchroom; paid 30 minutes of lunch per day; shorter Friday shifts
  • Vacation- 2 weeks vacation to start  (4 % vacation pay added to every pay deposit)

 

Wage Details

$23 - $32 per hour
