Position Summary

The Controls Engineer works closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production to trace machine faults to resolution and develop optimized control systems to improve operational efficiency. This role acts as the functional coordinator for Controls Technicians, ensuring priorities and activities are aligned with departmental and company objectives. The Controls Engineer plays a critical role in supporting equipment uptime, reliability, safety, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Education & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial automation systems
  • Technical Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience with PLC systems, safety circuits, and control system modifications
  • Experience supporting production equipment, automation systems, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience working in a high-uptime, continuous or high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred

Knowledge

  • PLC systems, safety circuits, and industrial automation architectures
  • Manufacturing production systems and equipment control philosophies
  • Industrial electrical standards and machine safety requirements
  • Control system backup, version control, and documentation practices
  • Continuous improvement and reliability-focused automation practices

Skills

  • PLC programming, fault-finding, and system optimization
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills 
  • Effective organization and task prioritization
  • Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Computer proficiency and technical documentation skills

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $79,400 - $115,900
