Overall Responsibility:

The Manufacturing Technician - Blanking is responsible for operating automated manufacturing machinery, monitoring and inspecting the quality of all products in the assigned work area, and making minor adjustments to machinery ensuring consistent quality of goods.

Accountabilities:

  • Operate and tend to automated manufacturing equipment; including robotics, fixed automation equipment, and stamping presses.
  • Interpret and understand machine readouts and adjust settings to accommodate for material variance, quality requirements and thresholds.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure a good quality product based on pre-determined standards and requirements.
  • Assist with machine changeovers, operating overhead cranes to change machine fixtures, and setting up pre-programmed automation systems.
  • Record accurate production data in computerized systems (parts per hour, scrap, down-time, part traceability).
  • Independently conduct thorough pre-shift work cell inspections ensuring the machine is in good working order and all safety or production concerns are reported
    or handled before machine start-up.
  • Conduct regular and end of shift housekeeping duties including sweeping, disposing of trash and scrap, etc.
  • Participate in World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives by giving constructive input throughout the process.
  • Other Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
  • Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.
  • Safely and efficiently pilot a counterbalanced forklift to move, load and unload materials in an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct daily inspection of the forklift ensuring any safety concerns are reported promptly before operating the vehicle.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a must.
  • Hold a valid Forklift license with no major accidents on record or be willing to obtain certification.
  • Certified or previous training in Transportation of Dangerous Goods would be an asset.
  • Experience utilizing visual work instructions to independently complete a task.
  • General mathematical skill is required.
  • Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive in learning and development activities.
  • Proven ability to work with people.
  • Works well under pressure and requires minimal supervision.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Previous exposure to robotic or automated manufacturing with experience homing and troubleshooting issues.
  • Knowledge or exposure to stamping presses
  • Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards.
  • Experience in participating in World Class Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives

 

 Travel Required:   Yes. Potential overseas travel of 3-4 weeks for training.


 

Compensation and Benefits

Rate: $27.75 CAD per hour
