Job Description

We are hiring for multiple seasonal contract (approximately April to October 2026) Security positions at Pittock Conservation Area.

The Security position supports a safe and welcoming environment within the Conservation Areas by fairly and respectfully assisting with the enforcement of applicable legislation, policies, and regulations. This role involves public engagement, responding to concerns, and supporting park operations and customer service as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the fair, respectful, and consistent enforcement of policies and regulations within the Conservation Areas to support a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Assist with the enforcement of applicable legislation and policies, including the Conservation Authorities Act and Conservation Area Regulations, the Trespass to Property Act, Conservation Area policies, and relevant sections of the Criminal Code of Canada, in accordance with training and established procedures.
  • Respond to concerns and complaints from the public, provide assistance as appropriate, and take action consistent with established policies, procedures, and training.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and respectful service to the public while carrying out enforcement and operational responsibilities.
  • Assist local Police Services and other enforcement agencies as required, within the scope of the position and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Attend court proceedings when required, in accordance with assigned duties and training.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful manner while wearing the issued UTRCA uniform, as required.
  • Assist with general park and facility maintenance and perform other related duties as required, consistent with the scope of the position and training provided.
  • Provide coverage for Customer Service Representative duties during scheduled breaks and lunches, as assigned.

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from an accredited College in a park, enforcement, or related discipline.
  • Previous experience in enforcement, park operations, or a related operational environment is an asset.
  • Experience operating a range of equipment and machinery is an asset; training will be provided for role-specific equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to assist other staff in different work areas of the conservation area as operationally required, within training and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends.

Certifications, Memberships, Licenses

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Vulnerable Persons Screening is required for this position
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain prior to employment

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $21.96 (starting) to $26.90 per hour, plus 4% in vacation pay
