Job Description

Have you always wanted to work with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority? Do you want to work with a dynamic team of experts committed to improving environmental health? We have great news – now is your chance!

We are hiring for one (1) seasonal contract (approximately June to September 2026) Maintenance position at Pittock Conservation Area.

The Maintenance position will help keep our Conservation Areas safe, clean, welcoming, and enjoyable for visitors. This is a hands-on role with outdoor work in spring and summer, supporting maintenance, visitor experience and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of maintenance tasks including grass cutting, tree trimming, facility and trail maintenance, snow and ice removal, garbage and recycling collection, and other related duties, using provided equipment and training.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service and wear the issued UTRCA uniform as required while performing duties.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Superintendent, consistent with the scope of the position and training provided.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience in conservation area maintenance, outdoor operations, or a related environment is an asset.
  • Experience operating equipment such as trucks, tractors, riding mowers, grass trimmers, and hand tools is an asset; training will be provided for role-specific equipment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and visitors; written communication skills relevant to the role.
  • Ability to assist other staff in different areas of the conservation area when operationally required, within training and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends.

Certifications, Memberships, Licenses

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.

Background Check Requirements

  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory police check prior to commencement of employment.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $19.64 (starting) to $24.08 per hour, plus 4% in vacation pay
