Job Description

W-S Feed & Supplies Ltd. is an independently owned and operated company. As an industry leading manufacturer of livestock feed, the company is strongly committed to its values of quality and service. We offer our customers a wide variety of feeds in the Dairy, Beef, Swine and Poultry species. Manufacturing divisions with the company include Mount Forest and the head office located in Tavistock. We are currently hiring for the following positions at our Tavistock location:

This dual-role position is responsible for overseeing nutrition and supporting sales team and dealers,  while ensuring full compliance with Canadian feed regulations, including CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal nutrition and regulatory affairs related to livestock and/or poultry feed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Nutrition & Business Development

  • Supervise Formulation and Nutrition.
  • Research and approve new ingredient and additive options.
  • Develop and improve existing product lines to maximize customer value as well as streamlining to improve supply chain efficiency.  
  • Build and manage relationships with dealers, consultants, veterinarians, and universities.
  • Provide leadership to nutrition and QC team members (if applicable) and set performance targets.
  • Maintain deep understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and competitor activities.
  • Represent the company at industry events and customer meetings across Canada.

HACCP  / Quality Control Duties

  • Development, maintenance and implementation of the FeedAssure Program.
  • Reviews industry standards and legislative changes to support revision, distribution and implementation of SOPs and current program references.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of, and compliance to, these standards and regulations through internal audit procedures, provide feedback, direction for corrective actions and retraining as required.
  • Work with the feed operations team to support compliance through standardized quality and food safety training.
  • Assists with all regulatory, customer, CFIA and other third-party audits and inspections and subsequent follow up.
  • Management and timely reporting of major deviations and subsequent detailed Corrective Action reports.

Regulatory Compliance

 

  • Ensure all feed products are compliant with CFIA regulations and the Feeds Act and Regulations.
  • Oversee feed registrations, ingredient approvals, and bilingual labeling requirements.
  • Maintain documentation required for inspections, audits, and product traceability.
  • Act as the primary liaison with CFIA and provincial regulators on regulatory issues.
  • Manage compliance for medicated feeds, VHPs (Veterinary Health Products), and VFD (Veterinary Feed Directive) equivalents in Canada.

Internal Coordination & Strategy

 

  • Work with the nutrition/formulation team to ensure products meet nutritional and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with mill production teams to ensure regulatory and customer requirements are met.
  • Provide guidance on product positioning, market expansion, and new feed development.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Feed Science, or related field.
    (Master’s degree or regulatory certification preferred.)
  • 5+ years experience in animal feed sales and/or regulatory roles.
  • Solid knowledge of CFIA regulations, feed labeling, and Canadian feed registration process.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally (within province or nationally) as needed.

Wage Details

$70000 - $92000 per hour
