Vuteq Technical Center Americas is a Sales and Engineering service provider representing Vuteq and Diversity Vuteq manufacturing groups throughout North America. These are new open positions for Design Engineers to join our team! 

Job Description

The Design Engineer is responsible for designing and/or modifying automotive parts in collaboration with Vuteq’s OEM customers to ensure the design meets Vuteq production requirements and OEM design intention. The Design Engineer needs to be capable of communicating with OEM and suppliers directly to confirm design and solve design issues. The team member is also responsible for supporting development projects through the creation of CAD designs, finite element analysis, 3D printing, testing of products such as a full DFMEA process.

Position Description 

  • Support Senior Design Engineer and other engineering team members with design tasks
  • Capable of creating 3D models and basic 2D drawings for OEM study data and supplier drawing purposes
  • Capable of communicating with OEM designers directly for confirming designs and solving design issues
  • Capable of training Co-op students or Jr. Design Engineer team members in design softwares (Catia, NX Unigraphics) in preparation of customer awarding design responsible business to the company
  • Liaison to Vuteq manufacturing facilities and customer Design/Engineering departments 
  • Provide insight into manufacturability of products based on drawing or design
  • Lead and/or participate in the creation of the DFMEA and incorporate necessary actions into design
  • Attend or lead design review meetings
  • Provide design support to both internal and customer open issues list for product design issues (DSR, ECI, EWO), support issue resolution to the customer timeline
  • Support development projects through creation of CAD designs, finite element analysis, 3D printing, testing of products, creation of slideshows, and presenting the findings to senior managers
  • Aide in activity relating to prototyping which includes understanding and running equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Create and maintain documentation such as engineering drawings and bill of materials for customer projects
  • Provide suggestions to benchmarking activity through reverse engineering by purchase, disassembly, and analysis of competitor products
  • Create VA/VE items and support customer and internal VA/VE activities

This role may involve being relocated to one of the overseas Vuteq locations or a Customer Engineering Centre. Countries may include USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina or Japan

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

Qualifications


Education

  • Successful completion of a minimum 2-4 year post secondary program; both Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering considered relevant
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and/or Design Engineering is considered an asset

Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience using CAD design software (Catia V5, Siemens NX 11)
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry is considered an asset

 Skills and Abilities

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when producing CAD drawings
  • High level of attentiveness to analytical details and abilities when creating a drawing
  • Sense of creativity when working on cost/mass reducing development projects
  • Actively listening to team members when developing designs, and while going through training exercises with the Senior Design Engineer
  • Time management skills to complete tasks by the required deadlines
  • Organizational skills; ability to manage tasks efficiently while working on several different projects
  • Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving

 Other

  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range:$60,000.00 To $96,000.00 Annually
