Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures children’s safety at specified street crossings:

  1. Arrives at crossing at specified times and remains at crossing for the duration of the shift,
  2. Must wear reflective safety vest and use a hand-held Stop Sign,
  3. Must be able to hold up the hand-held Stop Sign while reaching out the opposite arm for the duration of a few minutes while children are crossing,
  4. Escorts children across the street, ensuring all vehicles stop in accordance with proper procedure,
  5. Reports the description of the vehicle and driver, time and place of incident, and the license plate number of any vehicles refusing to stop to the Supervisor,
  6. Reports consistently disobedient children to the Supervisor,
  7. Reports any incidents or conditions that present a potential safety hazard to the school children or crossing guard to the Supervisor,
  8. Attends all scheduled crossing guard workshops.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children,
  • Experience interacting with the public in a positive and professional manner,
  • Basic computer proficiency,
  • Must have access to a vehicle to commute to assigned work location.
