Job Description

Before and After School Educators (Permanent 25 - 27.5 hours)

 

Seeking graduates of Early Childhood Education (ECE and RECE), Child and Youth Worker (CYW), Child and Youth Care (CYC). Current students with suitable availability may also apply.

 

LOCATION: Woodstock, ON (ability to commute to Ingersoll and Tavistock an asset)

SCHEDULE: School Year Schedule: September through June: Monday - Friday, split shift: 6:45am - 9:00am and 2:45pm - 6:00pm (25 - 27.5 hours per week)

Summer Care Hours available in July & August (Permanent Position)

(Work hours available on Weekdays only - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)


RATE OF PAY FOR PERMANENT BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL EDUCATOR:

 

  • RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator): Starting Wage: $24.95/hr and $26.95/hr after probation
  • Non-RECE: Starting Wage: $21.95/hr and $23.95/hr after probation
  • *Please note the Rate of pay includes the Provincial Wage Enhancement and the CWELCC Workforce Funding

POSITION SUMMARY: The Before and After School Program Educator, oversees child care programming for before school hours (approx. 6:45am - 9:15am), and for after school hours (approx. 2:45pm - 6:00pm). The successful candidate will provide care for children (3.8 years to 13 years of age) in a group setting under the direction of Good Beginnings. They will follow the Program Statement, Confidentiality Agreement, policies established by the Board of Directors, and regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act. Applicants must be available to work both AM and PM split shift schedule during school year (September - June), and available for Summer Camp (July & August).

 

September to June: Split shift hours for the school year, Monday through Friday, set hours of 6:45-9:00am and 2:45-6:00pm, averaging approximately 25 - 27.5 hours per week for the split shift schedule.

 

Non-instructional Days (PA Days, Winter Break, March Break, and Summer Care): hours will average 25-35 hours per week. This is a permanent position with consistent hours throughout the year, including summer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

We are seeking to fill Before and After School Age positions with reliable, friendly, and engaged individuals. Prior to starting the position, the successful candidates will be required to comply with all applicable licensing requirements:

 

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, other relevant qualifications may apply.
  • A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (if applicable)
  • Standard First Aid, including Infant and Child CPR Certificate (Level C)
  • Current Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, acceptable to Good Beginnings
  • Up-to-date Immunization Records required by the Ministry of Education and Southwestern Public Health
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Ability to work at various Before/After School locations throughout Woodstock, Tavistock, and Ingersoll
  • Previous experience working within a child care or school age environment is required, with preference on experience working in a licensed child care environment
  • Plan and implement activities based on the children's needs and interests
  • Excellent communication skills - written, oral, listening and non-verbal
  • Works as a co-operative and respectful member of the team
  • Adhere to all licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), 2014
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors of Good Beginnings
  • Must be reliable and flexible to arrive on time for scheduled shifts, including those that may begin before public transit is available
  • Familiarity with the following curriculum/resources would also be an asset:
    1. How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years
    2. Child Care and Early Years Act
