As a Production Supervisor, you'll be a part of our Production team, and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring that productivity is achieved while adhering to quality requirements and customer specifications and all department activities are conducted within the guidelines of the Collective Agreement, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and regulations for industrial establishments and environmental, legal, and other requirements. This is a permanent role, to fill an existing vacancy.

Key Accountabilities

Major

  • As part of our team, compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, policies, procedures, and Life Saving Golden Rules will be essential.
  • Support production department in meeting goals and objectives by ensuring all employees comply with company policies and procedures, current health and safety legislation, and the Collective Agreement.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the department
  • Willing to receive training on the operation and functionality of all processes and equipment, including safety systems, and be capable of ensuring adherence to proper procedures and emergency protocols
  • Assist in establishing all production related goals, objectives, and targets
  • Ensure that all established cost, productivity, quality, and safety standards are met
  • Responsible to establish manpower needs to maintain productivity throughout the department and meet daily customer requirements
  • Responsible for the daily activities of all hourly employees throughout the department
  • Ensure all safety concerns and accidents are investigated promptly
  • Ensure that environmental policies and procedures are understood, and issues/incidents are investigated and addressed promptly
  • Perform daily routine walks throughout the department to ensure all production related activities are running smoothly
  • Continually analyze departmental training needs for all employees and develop a plan to achieve these needs
  • Understand and exercise the current Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Apply disciplines to all employees as deemed necessary
  • Work rotating shifts and overtime as needed
  • Ensure all employees comply with company policies and procedures, current health and safety and environmental legislation, and the Collective Agreement
  • Communicate and interact with related departments
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is complete
  • Monitor shift exchanges, absenteeism

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

  • Grade 12 diploma, post-secondary education in a technical field a definite asset
  • Health & safety, quality, and environmental training
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in a busy manufacturing/industrial environment; experience in a unionized environment an asset
  • Working knowledge of the latest edition of ISO/IATF procedures

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Woodstock, ON N4S 4M2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Supervising: 3 years (required)
  • Manufacturing: 5 years (required)
