Volunteer Job Description

Position: Summer Camp Volunteer 
Summer Camp

 

Where: 
Woodstock and District Developmental Services

Location:
Woodstock, Ontario

Type: Short-term (July and August)
Camp runs Mon- Fri 9am-3pm

Schedule can be determined


Responsibilities:

  1. Support youth ages 10-21 with a developmental disability or barrier in our specialized summer camp
  2. Work with summer camp team to assist with implementation of leisure activities (sports, experiments, crafts, games, athletics)
  3. Support campers 1:1 or in groups to have fun, make connections, and engage with activities

 

Requirements:

  1. Mature, reliable and committed
  2. Energetic and motivated
  3. Works well with others and in teams
  4. Enjoys supporting people and building relationships
  5. Interest or experience working with youth
  6. Believes in the vision of ‘a Community Where Everybody Belongs’

 

**Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector and references are required**

Training:

  • One-on-one meeting with Volunteer/Student Coordinator
  • Orientation provided to all volunteers on agency policies and procedures
  • Online training provided (Health and safety, diversity and inclusion, confidentiality, abuse, rights, emergency procedures)
  • Meet and greet with Camp Coordinator and time to get to know the campers and team you will be volunteering with
  • More training available if requested
