Volunteer Job Description

Do you want to make a difference in our community and help shape services for newcomers?

The Oxford Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Newcomer Advisory Committee brings together people from diverse backgrounds to share ideas, raise concerns, and support newcomer success in Oxford County.

As we plan for the future needs of immigrants coming to Oxford County to live, work, and play, it is important to hear your stories and learn what matters most to newcomers starting a new life here.

We are especially looking to welcome individuals who represent:

  • Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit, Métis)
  • LGBTQIA2S+ newcomers
  • People from underrepresented countries (e.g., Philippines, Somalia, Brazil, Syria, Vietnam, Haiti)
  • People with disabilities
  • Francophone newcomers
  • Youth, seniors, or single parents
  • Refugees and asylum seekers

As a member of the Advisory Committee, you will be asked to share your experiences and provide input on:

  • Challenges newcomers face when working and living in Oxford County
  • Supports that are still needed for newcomers and their families
  • Ways Oxford County can help newcomers feel more ‘at home’

If you—or someone you know—would be a great voice at the table, we would love to hear from you!

This is a volunteer position with flexible meeting times and interpretation support available if needed.

Let’s make sure every voice is heard – and every newcomer feels welcome!
