Volunteer Job Description

Summer Mentoring Program (Community-Based 1:1)
Our Summer Mentoring Program matches youth with a caring adult role model (mentor/mentee) for a shorter-term, meaningful connection over the summer months. Matches are based on shared interests, helping to build positive, supportive relationships while creating fun and engaging experiences together.

Mentors and mentees meet 2–4 hours per week, spending time together out in the community. Activities are simple and flexible — going for walks, playing sports, visiting local events, grabbing a snack, or just hanging out.

Designed with post-secondary students in mind, this program offers a more flexible commitment while still providing a consistent and impactful experience for a young person. It’s a great way to stay involved over the summer, gain experience, and make a difference in your community.

Experience Required

  • Apply NOW to be ready for May 1.
  • Must commitment to entire summer.
  • Weekly outings (2+ hours each).
  • Must be 18+
  • Able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Complete volunteer interview, intake, and pre-match training (Approx 4-6 weeks).
  • BBBS Oxford provides thorough training before you’re matched and ongoing support from experienced caseworkers throughout your volunteer experience.
