Job Description

As a Material Handler at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to support our overall plant operations. In this role, you will have exposure to our finished goods and learn more about our customers and end product. Through general labor tasks and moving material and packing, this position will have potential for unlimited growth opportunities.

How you’ll contribute to our company:

  • Follow production information to prepare material according to customer specifications
  • Package material by operating turnstile, downlayer, banding line, overhead crane, and forklift
  • Accurately pull proper material from storage for transfer to storage area or to equipment as needed
  • Transfer material from machines to scales or to storage area as required
  • Maintain safe storage and handling of all material
  • Ensure proper handling procedures to prevent material damage
  • Maintain safe arrangement and organization of storage area including cleaning and housekeeping of the material storage area
  • Train new employees as needed

 

 

Here’s what we can offer:

  • Starting Wage $21.00 per hour with Shift premium $0.75 for Afternoons and $1.25 for Nights

Here’s what is needed to be successful:

  • Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred
  • Ability to use tape measure, micrometers, and calipers
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
