Job Description

Verduyn Tarps is looking for a Logistics Coordinator to join our team at our facility in Woodstock, Ontario. This position requires utilization of logistics and IT to optimize shipping and transport procedures.

We are looking for a responsive and creative individual wanting to exhibit their experience in logistics and customer service adding to our current culture. Successful candidates must exhibit excellent communication, organizational and critical thinking skills. The ability to multi-task is paramount, utilizing exceptional time management skills.

General Responsibilities:

  • Schedule logistics utilizing external and internal sources for delivery throughout the Verduyn family of locations, as well as to our valued customers.
  • Tracking of all incoming and outgoing goods providing logistical support and reports as required
  • Schedule internal staff to ensure logistics flow of supplies and finished goods are on-time and on budget.
  • Maintain warehouse locations and work with purchaser to ensure min-max levels are maintained for optimum production efficiency
  • Enter data into our administration system (Sage) to ensure shipping and receiving information is accurate and up to date.
  • Work closely with sales and account managers to provide excellent customer service
  • Prepare daily work schedules and delivery routes
  • Abide by Canada/U.S. transportation regulations
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, freight companies, co-workers, and customers
  • After hours phone calls as needed
  • Specific Responsibilities - Logistics
  • Perform product verification (counts, quality, and accuracy) of received goods
  • Fill orders and complete shipping documents
  • Arrange freights quotes and pick up
  • Ensure proper record keeping practices
  • Managing and organizing inventory, storage and transportation

Inbound freight

  • Physically unload freight using proper techniques
  • Receive product into system

Outbound Freight

  • Physically load trailers using proper techniques and equipment
  • Support Sales and Marketing team in supplying marketing logistics for items stored or arranging pick up or packaging as required.
  • Coordinate Intercompany shipments

Other duties as required.

This position is permanent and full time. It is scheduled for straight days Monday to Friday with no Weekend shifts. Other benefits include safety shoe allowance and prescription safety glasses allowance.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in business or logistics preferred
  • 2-5 years in transport industry an asset
  • Certified in Forklift operation
  • Certified crane knowledge an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with an ERP would be an asset
  • Clear Driver’s Abstract for back up delivery driver responsibilities if necessary
  • Understanding of basic transportation regulation both in U.S. and Canada i.e. weight restrictions, hours of service.
  • Experience with importing and exporting (Air, Ocean and Land), knowledge with completing commercial invoices and locating correct HS codes
