Job Description

Horticulture Farm Labourer

Berrylicious Fruit Farm

Family Farm seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and self motivated individual to assist with all aspects of our blueberry, raspberry, apple and elderberry farm near Woodstock Ontario. 

 

4 Month Duration from May 1st to Labour Day (Flexible)

35 hours/week May/June

40 hours/week (minimum) July/August

Possible fall hours extension 

 

Position Description:

  • Assist with general field work across blueberry, raspberry, apple, and elderberry crops, including planting, cultivating, weeding, spraying, fertilizing, and grass cutting.  . 
  • Support the operation and upkeep of irrigation systems, including switching zones, monitoring performance, and identifying or addressing any issues to ensure consistent watering  
  • Help monitor crop health and growing conditions, reporting concerns and assisting with tasks that promote strong, productive plants  . 
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance such as oil changes, routine servicing, and minor repairs  . 
  • Assist with general farm improvement and construction projects throughout the season, including repairs, building tasks, and other hands-on projects as needed  
  • Provide occasional fruit deliveries to customers or local markets during the summer months using farm vehicles.  

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Valid G license required.
  • Strong work ethic with a motivated, self-starting attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, supportive team
  • Clear communication skills and a positive, respectful approach to working with coworkers and customers.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a physically active, hands-on environment.  
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs.  
  • Experience operating tractors or farm/heavy equipment is an asset, but not required.  .
  • Agricultural or horticultural experience is an asset, but not required.  
  • Pesticide applicator’s licence is an asset, but not required.  

Compensation

Hourly. Wage depends on experience.
