Volunteer Job Description


Our group mentoring programs run in 8-week sessions, one hour per week, during the school day (nutrition breaks) at local elementary schools. These programs are designed to build positive, developmental relationships through fun, engaging activities.

Volunteers can choose from three program options:

  • All Play – for youth in Grades 3–5, focusing on teamwork, communication, emotions, and personal growth.
  • Go Girls! – for self-identifying females in Grades 6–8, emphasizing self-esteem, communication, and social skills.
  • Game On! – for self-identifying males in Grades 6–8, promoting life skills, healthy communication, and relationship building.

Experience Required

  • Must be 18+ (If you are under 18, check out our NEW Teen Literacy Mentoring program!)
  • Able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Available during the school day (flexible daytime schedule required)
  • Complete volunteer interview and intake process

BBBS Oxford provides a thorough intake process, as well as training and resources to ensure a safe, fun, and rewarding mentoring experience.
