Volunteer Job Description

Our Community-Based Mentoring Program matches youth with a caring adult role model (Big Brother/Big Sister or Mentors/Mentees) who they can talk to, spend time with, and engage in fun activities. Matches are created based on shared interests to help foster strong, lasting developmental relationships.

Mentors and mentees meet once a week for 2+ hours, spending time together in the community. Outings can be simple and fun—going for a walk, playing sports, cooking together, visiting local events, or just hanging out.

In addition to our traditional Big Brothers and Big Sisters matches, BBBS Oxford also offers PRISM (Pride, Respect, Identity, Safety, Mentoring). PRISM is a Community-Based mentoring program designed for 2S/LGBTQIA+ youth.

  • Weekly outings (2+ hours each).
  • Must be 18+
  • Able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Complete volunteer interview, intake, and pre-match training.
  • BBBS Oxford provides thorough training before you’re matched and ongoing support from experienced caseworkers throughout your volunteer experience.
