Volunteer Job Description
The PRISM (Pride, Respect, Identity, Safety, Mentoring) program is designed to create meaningful connections for 2S/LGBTQIA+ identifying youth in Oxford County.
PRISM offers:
One-to-one mentoring – Youth are matched with a caring adult who has lived the 2S/LGBTQIA+ experience. Together, they meet once a week for 2+ hours to build a safe, supportive relationship through fun activities in the community.
Group connections – Youth on the waitlist can join group activities with peers who share similar lived experiences, fostering belonging and community.
Mentors provide a safe space for youth to explore their identity, build confidence, and connect with the local 2S/LGBTQIA+ community.
Experience Required
Requirements:
Minimum one-year commitment
Weekly outings (2+ hours each)
Must be 18+.
Identify as part of the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community or as an ally to the community.
Able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
Complete volunteer interview, intake, and pre-match training.
BBBS Oxford provides pre-match training and ongoing support from experienced caseworkers to ensure a safe and empowering experience for both mentors and youth.
